Description

In the serene and wooded landscape of Bosrijk, the proposed residential complex stands as an autonomous architectural composition, evoking the image of a castle nestled in the forest. This circular cluster of homes is intentionally designed without the presence of streets or cars at ground level, enhancing the sense of tranquility and natural immersion. The homes are organized in a circular configuration, a deliberate choice to ensure optimal sunlight exposure and provide every residence with two distinct outdoor spaces: one facing outward toward the surrounding forest and the other oriented inward toward a communal courtyard.

The inner courtyard is the central hub of the development, where the entrances to each home are discreetly located. Beneath the entire complex, a basement houses both parking spaces and storage, keeping cars out of sight and preserving the natural beauty of the area. The homes are slightly elevated, with the ground floor raised 1.2 meters above the natural ground level. This elevation, combined with the enclosing walls of the terraces, creates a private zone for residents while allowing them to enjoy the surrounding greenery.

Architecturally, the homes are distinguished by a vertical rhythm, with three-story masonry blocks alternating with two-story wooden-framed window sections. This alternating pattern gives each home a unique identity while maintaining a cohesive appearance. The differing heights of the vertical elements create a dynamic, crown-like movement that adds a sense of grandeur and individuality to the structure. Inside the courtyard, asymmetrical bay windows further emphasize the privacy of each home, while the similarly sized windows across the facades bring a harmonious aesthetic to the entire ensemble.

This project exemplifies a thoughtful balance between community living and individual privacy, with its design deeply connected to nature. The absence of streets and cars on the surface, along with the castle-like circular arrangement of the homes, reinforces the project’s commitment to creating a peaceful, secluded environment. Bosrijk’s unique approach to housing stands as a modern interpretation of a forest settlement, offering a harmonious blend of architecture and landscape.
